My name is Susan Watson, Mom of identical twin 13 year old girls, Heather and Danielle. I am a substitute teacher, a dog breeder, and the owner and designer for Smoky Mountain Deerskin Originals. I also have a share in a small shop in Sylva NC called "Jus' Stuff" where I sell pet supplies, gently used and new items and dollar store items. I have two other partners in the buisness who sell used furniture and other new and used items.
We live in Cullowhee North Carolina, which is in the far western corner of North Carolia. We are a 50 miles west of Asheville NC, 100 east of Knoxville TN, and about 150 north of Atlanta GA.
I have been breeding dogs since 1984. I started out breeding German Shepherds , my first love. But after 10 years and several heartbreaking losses of my cherished first shepherds. I started focussing my breeding program towards small breed dogs. I now breed Chihuahua's, Yorkshire Terriers, and Newfoundlands. My pups are AKC and CKC registered, some are just CKC. I also do Chugs, which is a cross between a Boston Terrier, Pug, and Chihuahua. I feed Purina Puppy Chow to all my dogs, even my adults. I have tried other brands, but I keep coming back to it because it has never been recalled, like some of the other brands of food I have tried. I have always wanted to show dogs but I have so little time left between school, substituting, being a Girl Scout co-leader, my husband, our other family, my daughters dance classes, their soccer games, volley balll, basket ball, track, my shop in Sylva, my dog supplies business, and breeding and taking care of my dogs and all my other pets, there just hasn't been enough time for it.
